AMD Creates Remote IT Management Technology

Next to backing other management initiatives

July 20, 2007 - According to DigiTimes, AMD plans to launch a new remote management technology, with similar functions to Intel's Active Management Technology (iAMT, part of the vPro platform). By the end of this year, AMD's Remote IT will be part of the Phenom processors, the RS780/SB700 chipset, and I/O chips from Broadcom, Realtek, and Marvell, PC makers told DigiTimes.

A couple of months ago, AMD said it will support the Desktop and Mobile Architecture for System Hardware initiative (DASH) by the Distributed Management Task Force (DMTF). For the management of server systems, AMD has been pushing its Open Platform Management Architecture (OPMA).
