August 20, 2007 - Today, AMD introduces the Athlon 64 X2 6400+ Black Edition. Boxed in collector's packaging, the new processor is targeted towards gamers, enthusiasts and digital content creators. According to AMD, its appearance should help the channel make the 6400+ an attractive offering.
However, the new CPU is not a member of the latest Energy Efficient Athlon 64 X2 Revision G processors manufactured in 65 nm. It is based on the older Windsor core and manufactured in 90 nm technology.
The Black Edition runs at 3.2 GHz and features a 2 Mbyte L2 cache. Just like the 6000+, it requires a power envelope of 125 W TDP.
